Kayaks originate from the Abenaki tribe of Native Americans, who placed a carved and shaped piece of wood or birch bark on top of two logs in order to make use of their natural buoyancy. By pressing against one side with his feet while holding onto the other, they were able to create propulsion. These early kayaks needed some help from humans but proved extremely useful for travel, fishing and hunting.
Hurricane kayaks are made in the USA. They are designed to withstand high winds and maintain stability in even the roughest of conditions.
Kayaks are made in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The three main manufacturers are VanHunks, Perception and Wilderness Systems. Reference: where are vanhunks kayaks made.
